This was what I had up on VA-Parkour somewhere at some point before we changed to the blog front page :
For me, parkour is my way of expressing everything I believe in; release, uniqueness, personal style, freedom, fun, the list goes on. It is my way of staying physically fit, mentally acute, and constantly aware of my surroundings. Parkour has allowed me to see the world around me in a thousand newborn and vivid ways. It has given me the ability to paint my own way across mile-wide canvases. Parkour has introduced me to like-minded friends who have become like brothers in the span of a single year. It has given me the confidence and ability to approach all situations with the mindset of "No obstacles, only oppurtunities."
That's my story :]

I practice Parkour for these reasons that I can think of right now: - Parkour has totally changed the way I see my environment. These rails, walls, walkways, sidewalk boarders, ledges, and other architecture that we all are so familiar with, which serve to confine, have all disappeared since I started getting into Parkour. Now there are only possibilities. Endless possibilities for play. - It gives me a reason to maintain and improve my physical shape. It is so much easier for me to keep up a regular workout routine if I keep in mind that if I don't work out, I'll never be able to improve my flow, control, abilities, or be able to pull of x move that I couldn't get last week, etc. - Like many of you, I have met like-minded people who are awesome and have become very close friends very quickly. - It is a very interesting thing to say you do. - I'm almost a level 30 Traceur, and soon I'll be able to fly and turn invisible! Edit: Very good topic, btw! And I am thoroughly enjoying the responses everyone is giving. I really think this forum is the best!

I like to do Parkour because it makes me feel connected to the physical world. As soon as you move over something in a unique way its like you become a part of it in history, and you can always go back and experience it again, and better yet if other people are there to experience with you.

I do it because it's like my calling and it still feals like the first day, you know that great excitement and desire to go out and descover about parkour. As long as that fealing comes I will hopefully do it. Thats why.

After the past two days, I've seen that the benefits in my social life and emotional health have been a figment of my imagination. Sweet irony. However, I had more fun at the jam yesterday than I've had in a long time, and the parkour sucked. I pk because I love it, and I love the people who do it. Also, I really like one of Belle's mottos, "Etre fort, etre utile." (to be stong, to be useful), even though I'm not that strong or useful. Maybe someday though ...

I Parkour mainly just because how fun and exhilarating it is. Doing a split-vault over a fire hydraunt, doing a tic-tac over a trash can, and just plain speed vaulting is so exciting that I cant stop.

Everyday I am forced to go outside and make my way to one location or another. Whether it's to work, to meet up with people, or just to get away from it all. If I must move thorough my environment....I can't think of a better (funner:-) way.
I enjoy the aspects of athleticism, freedom, and energy that I get from doing Parkour.
And, it's just FUN! FUN, FUN, FUN! Did I mention it was fun?

I do parkour because of the feeling I get when I do something perfectly. It gives me a reason to finally start working on becoming more physically fit. I know that if I stive to be the best I can sure get close at least. Anyway, I love parkour because it is a totally awesome sport that actually has use when trying to get around places.

I do parkour one...because it has the motions have always been one with my actions.
and two...It is the only thing that I have been really good at. I have tried gymnastics, skating, music etc and this seems to be my own thing that not to many people can touch me. It feels good.
Oh and its frekin fun...
