First I would like to say hello to the Parkour community, I've always loved the art of movement, but have never considered applying it.
So, I recently decided that I'm going to drop some weight and tone up to begin this practice.

So, as a newcomer to this area, what are some solid excersize routines to begin parkour?

Currently I'm doing as many pushups I can a day while not feelings like I'm exerting myself far too much.
Same with situps.
But in all honesty that's really all.

Just looking for some "how to get started." kind of help from people who have started from nothing.
Figure if I can dump a few years into it and grasp some basics then I would be just fine with that.

Start by reading through the main page. After that, come to the forums and read through the stickies on all of the forum pages. After that, figure out any questions you might have and Search for them (Using the search bar up top).

After that, If you still have questions and you cant find the answers, Ask away.

Welcome to parkour!

Start with this article and set some goals.

If you're looking to drop some weight, this may help.

Then read through the stickied threads at the top of this forum.

Also, sit ups might not be optimal for your goals — they are generally useless.  Read through those articles and threads, get some goals, and if you still would like to know why, ask.

Thank you for the welcome and for the replies!
What I eat isn't really a factor in it, I just have lacked excersize for a good while.
So I wasn't sure what kind of excersizes would be good for a parkour newcomer to build the muscles needed for the practice.

I will continue with Push-ups and factor squats in, heard they help.
But anything else you would find good for a training regimen will help me on my way.
Thanks guys.

With respect, what you eat is a factor if you want to drop weight as you said in your first post.  You can read more about it here.

Again, the best thing you can do is read the article on goal-setting I linked you before and give yourself some solid goals.  What's a good exercise regimen for one set of goals may be wholly ineffective for a different set.

First I'd like to say, welcome and thanks for joining us!

As for "how to get started" I reccomend starting the APK Workout of the Day (WOD). There is a new workout every weekday that can be found on the main page. It is on the right hand column if you scroll down a little. The warm-up for the workout may is tiring enough that it becomes your workout, but that's ok! You will eventually get it and be building strength in no time!

One you've gained some basic strength, I would then reccomend setting some harder goals so that you have something to work towards.
And I mean basic strength as in you can do the APK warm-up, and it isn't intense enough for it to be your workout.

Good luck!
