Now that I have your attention, I really get bored running. For instance, whenever I just go out onto the road I get worn out because I get bored with it. But if I run around the track I could run at least 6 miles; or with music, I could run all day . No joke, I don't get winded, but when I get bored with it my body starts cramping and my lungs get cold.

Also treadmills are my all time favorite! Just watch some tv and run at the same time. That doesn't sound bad at all!

So does anybody else get this feeling?

Ummm usually when I'm at cross country practice running, a good way I think to make yourself run more and not be bored is to kinda daydream and not notice anything going on around you so you kinda run without noticing it. Try making your brain an imaginary tv or something if you like that and maybe play an episode of a tv show you like while running, all inside your head. Songs might work as well, you just need lots of concentration for this then you won't get bored, I assure you.

You are probably pushing yourself harder unconsciously when there are no distractions.  In terms of performance, its a lot better that way.

I don't think there is anyone disallowing you to have headphones on even while racing?

(and if you're not racing.. who cares just wear them if it helps you...) May be a decent idea if you KNOW you run better with music on.

There we a study somewhere linking listening to music you like and running improvements... Meh... I saw it once.

Running long and slow is incredibly boring.  Run faster.

If you get bored, set some objectives. Time yourself on your 4 mile run, try to beat that time next time. I've been running for 2 yrs now. I don't run as constantly as I did before because it is a detriment to my current objectives, but I do get out there for a 2 mile run once every other week, and each time I try to beat my previous record
