A little background:

I'm 16 years old, I'll be 17 in a month and 18 days.
Currently Located in: Ithaca, NY
Height:4'9"
Weight:101-108 (Depends on if it's wrestling season or not, haha)
BMI: Around 22.5
Athletic Experience: Soccer, Gymnastics, Lacrosse, and Softball for a few years, mainly as a kid. Judo for 11, almost 12 years. BJJ for about 2, Wrestling for 3. I've done parkour for roughly 2 years, but only recently have I been taking it seriously.
Mile time: 9:35 (Don't judge)

October 3rd, 2009
Location: Fall Creek ES
Duration: 2 1/2 hours

Good session with the team (iPK). We started with teaching the new guys rolls, how to land, then we moved on to safety, speed, and basic turn vaults. I then went off on my own to practice some kongs, and I actually landed a few good ones. Then we split the team into two, I took one group to do kongs, Hannah took the other to work on cat grabs  and climp ups. We switched groups, and ended the day with PDQ and lava tag. I fell backwards down the slide, hit my head. Not fun. I sat for the last few minutes, tried a couple vaults, but kept chickening out. Hopefully this'll pass (or else Kyle was lying, haha).

Rebecca, this is awesome! Cheesy

This will help your training a lot. I see you're welcoming comments/corrections, which is great. I suggest figuring out some goals and stating them here, so people can help by commenting on how your training is going to impact your goals. Steve and Chris both have great stickies in this forum (or maybe the General Fitness one) on how to do this.

Good luck on your journey!

Thanks guys. Yes, Josh, I'm really 4'9".

A few goals for starters:

-Be able to speed vault and kong vault at a run.
-Decrease my mile time
-Get all around stronger
(For when I'm a lot more experienced. Let's call them looong-term goals)
-Learn a palm spin

I'll add more later. I just woke up a little while ago, haha.

October 4th
Rest day.

October 5th
Played soccer for 30 min in gym, and did 10 pushups (Woah, I know, haha)
Ran maybe 1/4-1/2 a mile at wrestling practice. Good hour long practice

I still have judo tonight, so I'll edit this after.
Judo was good. I went the entire beginner class, even got to mess around with a friend. And then I did the club practice, so I'd say a good two hours of judo Smiley. Cardio included.

Hey were you at Beast coast? If you are then i remember you! David says hi Cheesy And wow, you have a lot of training under your belt before you even started parkour. Lucky bum. And congrats on starting a training journal, it really helps you stay consistent and may i suggest a calender that you right down important stuff on. E.g. Lifting numbers, accomplishments, fun training seshs and what not.

Anyways, ill see ya round!

David, nope. That wasn't mean. I WISH I was a Beast Coast, haha. Maybe this year...

The calender's a good idea, thanks! I'll probably use it a lot more when wrestling season starts (t-minus 1 month and 3 days...). I generally don't do much lifting during the off-season.

I'm still kind of sore from Monday, so I didn't do very much.

15 level pyramid with pushups:
#15-11: Regular pushups
#10-6: Triangle pushups
#5-2: Pseudo-planch pushups
#1: Divebomber (Smiley That's for you, iPK!)

I got a school planner from guidance that I can use as my calender to record my workouts. Thanks again for the idea!

I am so ridiculously tired. Physically, not mentally.

6-7:30 Wrestling: Everyone was bigger than me, so even a simple shot took more work. It was a great practice, but it really wore me out.
7:30-9:30 Brazilian Jujitsu: I'm too exercise-addicted, I stayed for BJJ. I was falling asleep during drilling (I was laying down in guard, what can I say? Smiley). I only got submitted once while rolling, but I was so worn out that I just stalled most of the time.

I was too sore and tired from the night before so I took the night off.

October 9th
6:30-9 Brazilian Jujitsu: Friday's are open mat nights. I drilled a bit with a couple of friends, and then we just rolled for the rest of the night. It was a good work out and a lot of fun.

October 10th
1-3:45 iPK session: Today was a really good session. The team started with stair runs, precision burpees, and stretching. Afterwards, I mainly worked on gaining some confidence back. I successfully landed a kong, however dippy it may be, twice, worked on my lazy vaults, and attempted some slighter taller jumps into rolls (only like 4 feet. Probably shorter. But it was tall for me Smiley) We (Hannah and I) worked on teaching the others rolls, kongs, and precisions. There were three kids watching, I think they were 12, 9, and 7ish, and we spoke with one of their fathers and asked them if we could teach them a few things. We taught them rolls, safety vaults, and speed vaults. We finished the day with lava tag, parkour ball, and follow the leader.

Graham, from Rochester Parkour, was down for the weekend (Thanks so much! Smiley), so he ran our training session today. We started with QMing up and down several flights of stairs, which was sooo much fun. We also worked on our rolls, precisions, and vaults. We ended the session with a little parkour dodgeball.

Didn't do much today. Played soccer for a little while, but didn't go too hard. I QMed up the stairs, which was loads of fun. Yea, Hannah, FUN.

New Goal: Learn a Back tuck. I thought about a front flip, but figured that a back tuck would be easier, to start with. I've watched a couple tutorials, but I can't do anything for a while. I don't have a good place to start training it. Any advice is welcome Smiley

6-7:30 Wrestling. Really good practice today. I had two guys closer to my size. One, we think, is almost brand new. So we beat on him but not too bad. The other's a friend, he usually gives me a good go. I kept him to one takedown today, though, which was really good.
7:30-9:30 Judo. Pretty lame club practice. From 7:30-8:30 I helped out in the beginner class, and then the rest of the time was club. I did some throw practice with dad, and then we did free-fighting. The only people anywhere near my size don't give me a challenge anymore, so I just try to help them work on their own throws.
