To understand this post you first need to read THIS ARTICLE

We all at one point or another want to try to adopt new methods of training that will benefit our overall performance, well this is an opportunity that only dedicated and disciplines traceurs(euses) will take serious.

From reading this article you can get a general understanding as to where we are heading with this. Every week (every two weeks, once a month, your choice) dedicate a whole training session to the 300 approach. It is obvious that our skill levels are all very different, so it is our choice what technique we pick to do every time we do our 300 training session

Anyone is welcome to participate, keep in mind it will take a serious and dedicated practitioner to keep it up as it involves setting aside a whole session in order to do so and well, this is hearty work.

Obviously most of us dont have the 5+ years of training experience like Blane, so we need to approach this the smart way. The idea is to perform the move correctly and efficiently rather than go for 300 consecutive reps. This is the intended way, but if you're not comfortable with it then that's ok you can also ignore that rep in which you failed and continue, which at the end will end up with more than the actual 300 reps we intended (however, the idea is to keep our focus for a very low fail rate). The idea is to start on a way that will not put you off after the first attempt.

So the idea is to change which movement you do each session, eg.
Blane did 300 level kong to precision, you could do 300 cat leaps or 300 precisions or or even link a few moves together and do 300 flow runs. This will be a great way to train as the movements will become autonomous. Plus many who dont enjoy the standard conditioning sessions will benefit from this as it is conditioning through movement, your muscles will develop in a useful manner and not gain that 'unnecessary' bulk that some traceurs would like to avoid.

You can come back here and discuss the session, your chosen technique, your results and experience, place a picture of your chosen spot, how the overall session went and the works of the whole 300 training.

 Good luck, train safe.

Hm, I am not sure if I should move this or ask you first...?

Why did you put this in Training Journals and not General Fitness?  Imho this doesn't belong here.

I have been lobbying through Zac for someone to make a "Challenges" forum where we can put the 100k dips, kongs, pushups, pullups thread and this would fit in there, as well...but I don't think it goes here.... ?

i think its in training logs because its a form of training, and, after participating, people can write out their experiences with it, into a sort-of log

instead of it being a log for one person, its for one technique

Pretty much so, it is " everyone's training log" for the 300 training session. People can come here, talk about what they did for more ideas, post pic of their spots, results, etc. I was going to put it on fitness also, but this is more about keeping track of the training and no about discussing the idea.

But yeah, I gave it quiet a bit of mental debate to where this should go before I posted it.

I love it!!

It's an awesome idea. I think it does belong in the General Fitness, though... this way we include those who don't keep a training journal and therefore never even come here.

Thanks for bringing this up, Ozzi

I officially love this idea and will definitely be incorporating it into my training regimes when I get back on track.  Grin

The most counted reps I've done of something is 100. That was a long time ago. I think it's time I took that method of striving for perfection back up.

I'll start with either 100 reps consecutively without fail, or 300 successul total.

Great article Ozzi. You da man!

Finally got some time to do this. Funny thing is that it was not planned.

A few days ago, actually yesterday I brought a couple of my vaulting boxes (now that I have a pair more at CF where I teach) to my friends puppy day care so the dog can use it. I hang out a lot there anyway so I figure.....

I went there today after wanting to train I said to myself  "well, my ankles are a bit tired from some activity during Marks visit, so cant do anything to big" So I decided after a few vaults that I should just do 300 kong. Nothing fancy, not much run, not much dive just a clean kong. I decided to land with both feet together to avoid much one foot impact and to condition my ankles evenly.

The first 100 I took my sweet time, talking here and there, doing 10 to 15 at the time. I started at 2:40pm, byt 3:40 the number was 100. After that I figure I didnt want do 100ph so I sped it up a bit. Then I hit 200, it was 4:20 by then. I received a call from my wife reminding me that we needed to be somewhere soon. I had until 5 to finish. So 250 came across, not so bad. The last 50 though were not fun at all. My ankles were tired, my form was still good considering I was playing with upper and lower body transitions. 15 more to go, almost there, sweating my ass and feet asking me to hurry so they could rest.

300 was the goal, 5:00pm I hit 300, such a relieve. Then I decided to do 10 more, for the fallen ones, those werent actually that bad. It was all a mental game really. I cant wait for my next one, I want to try something different, using a couple techniques or something. Maybe kong to precision or a small flow. Who knows, I am just glad I finally gave this a first try.

Now go and do it guys/gals!!!!

For you new people:

Please listen to your body.

It's very easy to give yourself an overuse injury if you do this.

Gives us your actual experience though.

Did you stick 300 precision or just jump onto it 300 times? If you are doing precision the idea is to stick them all. Maybe no counting the ones you didnt.

Would be awesome to hear a more detail comment. How did it go at the beginning, how was it when you were half way, how was the mind and body felling. How did you feel when you only were 50 away from the goal etc.

300 360 underbars completed Smiley I found a really awesome swingset and kept jumping through the highest swing from as far away as possible, it was super fun.

Ok Ozzi here you go.

So when I started it was turning out really great and  was having a blast... until about halfway through when my hands slipped and I landed on the only exposed concrete in the park -.- so after that I thought about quitting thinking I'll pick it up tomorrow, but I just figured if I did that then i'd be quitting which isn't really the traceur mentality so I picked myself up and completed 213 more underbars Smiley all in all it took me about 2 hours? And what I learned is... concrete is very unforgiving Wink

Sweet.

I wish you guys gave more details. At least how long it took, how was it mentally and physically. Not just, I did it and move on.

Share your experience, what did you learn, what doing 300 reps did for you etc.
That is the idea of this thread guys.

so i did a variation of this today, i was at one of my favorite spots where there are just a bunch of walls in an obstacle course fashion that vary from a few inches off the ground to about 4 feet, it is perfect for parkour

anyways i get there and i warm up and just run around and jump for about 15 minutes then decide to get started, i have done 50-100 precisions before and i felt like spicing it up so i decided to do 50 runs (five different runs 10 times) through the area with about 2-3 real long precisions (practically max distance) and 5-6 stride precisions in each one, i added in a vault or flip every once in a while, but anyways so i did 5 of each run and that took about 30 minutes and i was pretty tired i took a rest then repeated the process, second time threw it was very hard to focus and my legs were dead but i made it, i noticed that my sideflip was especially hard to do as well as landing silently with real good form, very mentally tough and i think next time ill go for just one single precison for 300, but overall id say i did around 250-300 precisions while there
