Monday night I was at the gym for a brief trainging session. I was practicing my basics, kongs, speeds, and cat leaps. I decided to up my level on my cats and set up a panel mat on the spring floor I was on. I then set up more panel mats against the wall for my cat leaps. I started out with a nice small 6 foot gap and landed my cat without a sound made. I then moved it back to about 10 feet, and once again stuck my cat. I then proceeded to move the panal mat back to 15 feet. I was feelign as bit hesitant about this gap, so I decided to give it a test jump. My first mistake was, my mind was on clearing the gap, not on my landing. I over shot the gap and slammed into the mats I was trying to cat leap onto. When I came down I landed on my ankle and dislocated it in the worst possible way one could. In the process of the dislocation, all my legiments were torn, and one of the bones on the top of my foot shattered into 3 big pieces, and the rest into dust particles. Form the time the peramedcs arrived at the gym to the time I got to the hosptial in the ambulance, I was shot up with 17mg of morphine. This amount of morphine in the average human being without pain would have put them in the hospital breathing out of a tube for 2 weeks unconcious. I was told by the orthopedic that this injury is so rare that it is on average only seen 3-5 times in a career of a orthopedic............Here is the link to a picture taken of my foot 5 mins after this all went down. http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=9571DD193C510FB9or http://img126.imageshack.us/img126/2623/fupedankle8vh.jpgThe next step for me is surgery. They have to go in and screw all the pieces they can back together, and clear out all the bone particles that can't be salvaged. The recovery period will be long and painful. However, my spirit is high and I have no regrets. I have always known the risks of Parkour but the benifits have always outweghed them for me. Although this injury will prevent me from practicing phyisical Parkour, I will continue to train my mind with this challlenge I now have to over come. I will prepare myself for the day I get back up and get on the horse again. There is no doubt in my mind that I will practice Parkour once again, it is just a matter of time!! With all of that said and out of the way, I would like to send a messege. No matter how hard one trains there are ALWAYS risks involved. I trained on average 5 days a week uptill my injury and drilled everything from the basics to strength training and technique. Even with the extensive training, my injury was not prevented. I want to also note that this occured in a controlled environment. I was in a gymnastic gym with mats and a spotter to hold my mats on the wall for my cat leaps. It was because of this I let my guard down and did not think about how I would react in the situation of a fall. So I encourage all to really think about what you are doing before you do it. It doesn't matter if it is the most basic move or not, you are still at risk for injury! I do not want to discourage anyone from practicing Parkour, I am merley hoping to create awarness to the everyday traceur that injuries are bound to happen no matter of ones skill level!! Well with that said I will stop rambling on, bc I am sure if you are reading this, you are already aware of all of what I have said. I was just hoping to shed the light of reality of our beloved sport! Train hard and Train safe!! Strydzz P.S. Please forgive any errors made in this post, fore I am knocked up on vicodin and morphine!!

I have already talked to you a lot about this and you know I hope you the best in your recovery. You will be sorely missed as my parkour training buddy but I know you will still lift and do other stuff with me. You can count on me to help you along the path to recovery and I am sure we will train parkour again in the future.
*I moved this to the general forum because I think it has a very important message to it that people need to see.

It is one of those injuries where I knew it was dislocated, but didn't think too much about a break, then found out I shattered the top of my foot!!...........This was a training session where there was gonna be footage, but the camera was not out when I ate shit. I wish it would have been filming, but oh well...A picture and the pain is all I have left to re-mind me;)

Has anyone else noticed the increase of major injuries in the parkour community recently. Demon, Strydzz, Me.... I'm sure there are more. I wonder if it can be atributed to anything. Lack of focus? Letting your gaurd down?

Look on the bright side -- now you can become a monster with your upper body while you're healing.

man, your balls must be made of steel!....that is one of the gnarliest things i've ever seen/heard of. for me, that's up there with that guy who cut off his arm to survive after getting it trapped under a boulder...well, almost yea dude, try some bi-pedal movement with your hands only! that'd turn you into a monster real quick. best of luck! and don't rush your recovery! (well, you know that already, but still)
