insoles are a good idea to protect your feet a bit, but nothing about a shoe is as important as your technique. work on that every chance you get, and make sure you can do a proper landing before pretty much any jump (well a high jump, not three feet - most people can jump three feet) and make sure you can do good rolls before higher jumps.

It's not about showing off. It's about movement and passion and freedom. It's about giving yourself the ability to reach farther and higher, to go anywhere you please. It's about living without boundaries.

Alright. Now I'm like super into this now. But heres one last question about shoes. So I went on urbanfreeflow.com and I saw thos Feiyue shoes. The only thing I saw bad about them was that they can't absorb any fall at all. So then I kept looking on the website and I saw these http://urbanfreeflow.com/product_test/3_product_test.htm Do you think that the Feiyue shoes and the Insoles would be a good idea? It seemed very cheap and a good idea. So is it?

The shoes you wear right now are not very important. Just find some comfortable running shoes. We learn to take drops and impacts through proper technique. The padding in your shoes will only hide bad technique while your body is still taking the force. Over time, this can cause long term damage. Insoles may make your shoes more comfortable but do not look to them as a Parkour "enhancer". UFF is simply promoting a product and should be taken with a grain of salt.

The way I look at it, if your feet are getting bruised from landing, you are jumping from too high up or landing wrong. Also, keep in mind that drops are only a little part of Parkour. We train movement to make ourselves stronger but big drops will only wear the body down. We learn to drop as a precautionary measure, not as a way to strengthen the body.

Do what ever you like.  Smiley

I prefer parkour. I don't even feel they are parallels. I view parkour as getting into shape, have the ability to do something during emergencies, thinking freely and safely, and have fun. I'm always sure of my abilities and foot is solidly planted into the ground.
I view skateboarding as restricted to a piece of equipment, slippery, no overall philosophy, not as friendly people, and risky.
Of course I'm biased; this is a parkour forum.
