Hey everybody in the Denver area, I just thought I would clue everybody in on what this whole Denver Family movement is about. Well, having met with numerous very dedicated traceurs and free runners in the Denver area and having been going strong with the Parkour and Free Running for the past three years or so myself, I simply love training hard and sincerely by myself and with other people who have the same sincerity that I have to Parkour and who want to work very hard at becoming the best they can be. Ultimately the Denver Family is about having a group, like a family, regardless of number of practitioners, who want to train with us consistently and represent the Denver Family and its values both in and outside of training. This whole thing has resulted from me and my very best friend and training partner, Will James, meeting each other at a local gym and then being loyal to each other and the Art by training hard when we were with and not with one another. Parkour has become a part of our lives to stay, and after meeting other loyal practitioners who try to be true to their training just as the both of us are, the Parkour has become an even greater and more important part in our lives. Truly, this movement was entirely unplanned, but it has inevitably become like a family to us, The Denver Family and we as a Family would love nothing more than to meet with any other practitioners who regard themselves as being highly disciplined, loyal, focused and hard working individuals just as we are in the Art of Parkour and Free Running. So if you would like to join you will have to come and meet with me or Will James in person or submit a video showing how hard working and serious about training you yourself are. If you cannot make a video then please, we would love nothing more than to come and meet with you in person on any Friday in Denver at Skyline Park. Also keep in mind that we as the Denver Family, are in the process of setting up classes to teach at in Aurora or in the Denver are. A website is also in the process of launching sometime very soon and clothing from the Denver Family will also be coming out some time next year! This is a new movement, which we hope to be the first of its kind in the Denver area!!! More news to come though, so please check back on this forum, thank you very much!
Thank you guys and girls! Pat, Denver Family

Hooray for Denver Family. On another note--
I go to East High School, located at Colfax and Josephine. On my way home, I pass Cat Fountain. Every day. I cut straight through the city, Every day. Also, due to my brilliant class selection, I have nearly no homework... ever.
What does this mean? This means that I can train Downtown just about ANY day. This means that if you are in the area, you can Call me and I can most likely Jam with you for a while.
Having spent some time with the Former Flux, i have learned quite a few good spots around the city.
Basically, what I am trying to say, is, give me a call or send me a text if you want to jam downtown.

I don't know... first: there's this http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=15491622396 Also keep in mind that we as the Denver Family, are in the process of setting up classes to teach at in Aurora or in the Denver are. There are already classes in Denver: every Tuesday and Thursday at Gym Riki... and... The Denver Family and we as a Family would love nothing more than to meet with any other practitioners who regard themselves as being highly disciplined, loyal, focused and hard working individuals just as we are in the Art of Parkour and Free Running. So if you would like to join you will have to come and meet with me or Will James in person or submit a video showing how hard working and serious about training you yourself are. If you cannot make a video then please, we would love nothing more than to come and meet with you in person on any Friday in Denver at Skyline Park. Speaking in my case alone (there may be more out there), I cannot make a video because I lack easy access to a camera, and I can't meet up at Cat on Fridays because I work Friday nights (as a server, Friday nights are money-making nights), so how can I be part of the Family? Just trying to put up some logical, intelligent arguments from the other side of the fence. I've trained with you guys before... Whatever happened to Flux Freerunning? Wouldn't it be easier to keep that and have people join? This is all just IMO.... Not trying to bash you guys or anything, just seems redundant what with COPK and it's classes and such....

I dunno Derik... I think your statements make the assumption that this is mutually exclusive from COPK or the classes that are run or whatever... It just seems to be another way to get people together, which is never a bad thing. I'm fairly certain that Patrick, Will and the rest of the "Denver Family" aren't going to start making t-shirts that say "F*&K COPK" or something... I think the whole "video" thing is just to make sure people are serious about training together -- you don't need to even submit a video, just show up to a jam so people know who you are. I think it's a step in the right direction -- i just freakin STUMBLED upon Dylan Baker, who was training for a while, while I was training with Willgrind...and I know he has been looking for people to train with -- sadly I can't because of my knee and because I live over an hour away. This encounter with Dylan is just a bit of evidence that all communities here can stand for a little more cohesion

We aren't trying to compete with COPK in any way, that kind of competition goes against the very philosophy of parkour. We are just trying to bring together a community that has been separated by small groups and make it into a bigger parkour community. Belonging to something like this evokes a better attitude and more training. In order for the parkour community to build we need teams like this who strive not to just become better but to include as many people as possible. Anyone willing to train hard and have the traceur's attitude of training for the love of movement is more than welcome to join. Beginners to the more advanced, live what you love.
