I just started Parkour and was wondering is it possible to Lazy/Monkey Vault over a 5 foot wall? I can do it no problem on like a 3-4 foot wall. But any higher my foot gets caught and its annoying. So my question is, is it just because I just started and I need more practice? Or is it just impossible and I should just Pop/Gate vault over it?

Lazy vault over five feet?  Ummm...  I can't say I haven't done it, because I have.  Monkeying something that is five feet isn't too bad.  Yes it is possible, but it really does depend on you.  How strong you are, how tall you are, etc.

I would say that it is, though in a lazy you would have to basically lie down in mid-air to clear it.

Aye, you do.  And it takes a lot more energy than a simple monkey would.

Just thinking about it, a 5 foot Lazy? Seems dumb high haha. Id probably get scared of smacking my foot and falling. As for the monkey I just think its my strength.

Here's a good video on the monkey vault.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoSHryz88l0

It taught me a lot about the monkey that I didn't realize I was doing and how to correct them.

It's possible man. The key, with both of these vaults, is to get your hips up and over and the rest of your body will follow. It takes a good amount of strength and technique, so practice practice practice Wink

Honestly, your best bet is probably to just do a small pop vault.  It expends much less energy and the likeliness of you clipping a foot is reduced.  It's definitely possible to do a monkey or a lazy over a wall that high, but it just doesn't make a lot of sense to do it, you know?

U have to understand that noting in pakour is impossible. if ur trying to vault a 5 foot wall.. try doing a wallrun, then vaulting, for extra height.

Oh well Yea a wall run would clear a 5 foot wall no problem. Im just saying is it possible just to Lazy Vault / Monkey vault it. Without wall running or climbing it.

5 foot wallrun? Thats like a wallrun for a 3 foot person. I would say a 5 foot wall would be more of a pop-vault... (unless of course you Lazy/Monkey it)
