Apart from the Apk wods i'm also training my planche and front lever by Coach Sommer's guide on Dragondoor.com. In his guide those kids on the pictures have their fingers pointing towards their head, but most gymnasts I see point their fingers towards their feet. Any difference in strength? I won't be able to do an straddle planche with my fingers pointing towards my head, an advanced tuck planche already hurts my wrists too much. However I'm not able to hold an advanced tuck planche with my fingers pointing to my feet, I fall forwards :/. Any tips on how to advance? I don't have paralettes and I think two chairs are too unstable to do a planche on..

ive never seen gymnasts do a planche with their fingers pointing toward their feet. i dont think a real planche is anatomically possible that way.

Actually, the most common implement for a planche is the rings, and in that case your hands would be pointing the opposite way, like Bubblemaker said. I usually point my fingers forward or slightly to the side, or better yet, use parallettes Edit: Here's a link with a pic, it's actually a Maltese that he's doing, which is the 1-bajillion times harder version of a planche, but you get the picture Badass Gymnastics Mofo

i was just thinking of planches on the ground, in which case, i dont think you could do it with your fingers pointing to your feet.

In this movie you can see Rianu, a member of trickstutorials.com doing a planche with fingers pointing towards it's feet (at around 30 seconds), along with many other bodyweight exercises. http://media.putfile.com/Rianu-Strength.

Hahaha, you beat me to it! That video is sick! Working up to even half of what he does in that video would be a great goal for anybody!

Hey I never knew what a Planche was until I saw that video of yours Justin but I have been doing the for years while breakdancing, used in freezes of course . I mostly do them with my fingers pointing to my feet because thats the easiest way to hold for me but I'm no gymnast. Of course when I move into other freezes etc. my hands may be on the other side so it really doesn't matter. One handed ones (I'm not sure if thats still called a planche) I always put my hand to the side if that makes sense to anyone here.
