alright so whenever i am on something flat like a rooftop and it does not have a wall of some sort to do a turn vault on, i have an akward time moving from a standing position to the side of the roof. right now, i go from standing to a reversed squat and then shifting my arms and legs so that i can do the opposite of a climb up. can someone give some advice or direct me to a place that would help with this or just tell me to experiment.

I'm wondering if you could almost slide off the wall and grab onto it as you're falling from the edge. This would probably only work for rooftops and if you're wearing pants, but it might be something you could work with. It'd probably be quicker and more efficient if you could figure out the right way to do it. I've never tried this because I don't do rooftop training, but it seems to make sense in my head.

Work on QM, moving on all fours. the better you get at this the easier it will be to drop down right before the side of the wall and turn quickly. Its hard for me to explain but if you look up some tutorials and try it out for a while i think you will get the picture.

yes, although turn vaults such as the one suggested by Neohanyou are very helpful in such situations, they only work if there is a wall or rail to do them on, which i stated does not exist, but thanks
tai, im not really sure that my quad is the problem but i think i understand what you guys are getting at, which is to go over it over 9000 times like all moves until its fluid, thanks

What I do in a situation like that is turn so im facing the way I just came from and let my feet drop off and catch myself on my forearms then lower myself with a reverse climbup. It may seem scary at first but practice it on a low wall until it becomes fluid and then you can use it to safely lower yourself from high walls. Atleast, I hope you wouldn't have to lower yourself from a rooftop since you shouldn't be on those anyway.

What I meant was well try doing a QM alongside the rooftop and then turn so that you're arms are like in a dip position and do the technique in the link I posted where you fall into a cat hang. That's what I've done before so i might make a mini video one day to show it.

This is one of the few places where a dash vault would probably be the best choice.

I obviously didn't read it correctly. I thought he meant from one part of a roof to another, not a huge drop to the ground.
In that sense, get off the damn rooftops! =P :]
But really though, there's no need to. However, in that situation, it's sort of like a rotation/palmspinalmost on your hand down into the cat position.
