Hello,

I just moved to DC from the twin cities to do brain research at the NIH. I have a few months of self-directed experience with parkour, but now that I'm in such a great parkour city I'm looking to find some people to learn from and practice with. So if anyone has planned any practice sessions and wouldn't mind me tagging along, I would love to know when and where.

Thanks a bunch,

-joe

Hey Joe,

Welcome to DC!  Where in Maine are you from?  As it turns out, my sister lives in Portland.

Anyhow, I would recommend cross-posting your thread in the Mid-Atlantic section of the forums.  Most DC-VA-MD traceurs and free runners tend to communicate, post jams and socialize in that neck of the woods.

Also, check out Primal Fitness (www.primal-fitness.com)... America's first parkour gym, owned and operated by Mark "M2" Toorock.  Stop by for a Saturday session... like crack dealing, the first time is always free.

Anyhow, I hope to meet and train with you soon.  Perhaps a "welcome" jam should be scheduled for all the new folks in town.

Outta curiosity, what kind of brain research?  Do you work with the folks who developed MIPAV?

Yeah, and just like crack, the training there is just as addictive.  Sarcasm - Akh
But it is very fun and I would recommend it. Grin

Thanks for the info. I'll stop by primal fitness. And it's good to know that the first time is free--something about paying for parkour just doesn't feel right. But I have heard good things about primal fitness elsewhere, so I'll give it a shot.

Anyhow, I grew up in Bar Harbor. I study reward processing and social cognition in evolutionary/functional perspective. It's pretty cool stuff. Gets at the basis of economics, ethics, etc. But I don't know much about MIPAV. But I'm new here so I'll probably here more about it as I go on.

hope to train with you guys sometime soon,

-joe
