this is going nowhere fast, i guess il have to post a video of exactly what i'm talking about because you don't seem to get how easy this stretch is when done correctly. it doesn't take any sort of contortion or any sort of flexibility. if you can put your arms out to each side of you, then you can do this stretch!

Ugh..  give me about 45 mins.  I'll show you.  With a lightsaber, since tha'ts all I have.

o_O'  That thing is 4.5 feet long.  My arms don't stretch out much further than that!

Yeah they are definitely a great exercise, did them a lot when I coached at this gym for the summer I worked them a lot. Rushed though and ended up straining my shoulders a bit. So be careful but yeah, they definitely can help a lot.

I don't think you understand.  I'm actually not able to reach behind me unless it's down by my waist.  My arms can only be held at my sides (I thought this was the case for all people).  OTherwise, my shoulder blades hit my spine and prevent any further movement.

Yeah, Animus, I'm sorry, but most people CAN do this - we do it all the time at Primal - every boot camp (~10 people every 4 weeks) and I haven't met someone who can't. I'm sure with a wider bar you could. That lightsaber isn't actually very wide for this.

To make it easier for you, start with a long beach towel, hold it out as far as you can, then move in inch by inch until your arms have to bend.

try the towel instead, the flexibility it allows your hands and wrists is important, once you get the towel down you can move to a stick - moving this to an exercise related forum BTW
