I've looked around the site alot today, looking for various information on proper diet and trying to make a daily workout shedule, but it's really all alot to take in and memorize, so I was wondering if I could get a little help in setting up a plan for both?

Ok, first:
My weight is 168 pounds
I'm fairly new to working out more so than just general things(some running, etc...) every now and then. Also, my parents(who I currently still live with to save on money during college) don't exactly buy the healthiest foods, so I want to start getting my own.

My goals as far as diet, is to lose body fat, and gain muscle. I don't know exactly what amounts(being fats, protien, carbs, calaries, etc...) I need to be eating daily though.

I'm also looking to make some progress on an excercise plan.
Currently I want more running endurance(which should just come from running longer distances at less than top speed if I'm getting it right)
And am looking to build upper body strength, so I can do more( and proper) pull-ups. Also, I wanted to work on my stomach muscles but I hear that sit-ups aren't a good excercise for that, so does anyone have suggestions? Keep in mind that I don't have any weights, nor access to a gym currently.

Really I'm looking for a good starting place with all of this. I currently can't run very far(though that article on how to run helped alot) and don't have much arm strength, which I really need to work on too.

Can someone  suggest what I should be looking for in my diet and excersize?

I'm sorry to ask all of this as I'm sure it's already posted on here somewhere, but like I've said before I've read alot and it's all a little hard to comprehend all at once, and my computer is slow, along with dial up internet, it makes it difficult to browse around a whole lot.

No problem in asking for help as long as you've tried.

In regards to the weight, the goal is to lose body fat, but you need to know where you stand right now in terms of body fat. Your weight doesn't equate to body fat. Most gyms will have a bio electric impedance scanner which are *kind of* accurate. I'd recommend getting a cheap gym membership somewhere nearby.

Look at Chris' approach towards fixing your diet in this topic: http://www.americanparkour.com/smf/index.php?topic=11629.msg137298#msg137298

That will help you get on the right track.

As far as upper body strength goes, if you're willing to spend 50 bucks towards better overal core and upper body strength I'd invest in a pair of gymnastics rings. They're easy to set up in your house and there's a vast plethora of exercises you can do.

I never thought of getting a set of rings. Thanks for the advice.
I'll try to get a membership or maybe a free trial at a gym nearby to see about my body fat.
