All my friends are able to do front flips, and I even know a little 8 year old who's able to do 'em easily. First of all, I'm way too scared I'll break my neck or get badly injured by trying one, second of all, there's no gym nearby at all. Any help?!?!

Well, if you have no gyms, try and find a spotter. No big deal man. Or just... don't do them

Don't be afraid of front flips (me saying this after I just broke my leg doing one...but that was a freak accident). If you try a front flip and bail, 99% of the time you'll just land on your ass, no big deal. Well, if you have no gyms, try and find a spotter. No big deal man. Or just... don't do them Front flips are very hard to spot for I think, so really, you just have to do it. Just make sure you know the technique pretty well. Also i would suggest finding a soft area, like sand or playground mulch.

For your first flips, you will want a soft surface, like a Gym Mat, Mattress, or Couch Cushions. I will call it THE PIT. Getting started. Roll on the pit or do small jumps and landing safely on your back. This should help you: - Get over the fear of landing on your head.
- Get a feeling for rotation.
Now for the flip. Here are the things to think about: - Speed. Jogging speed or faster.
- Hands. Hold them by your head and shoot them out when you jump.
- Jump. Focus on jumping UP, but also forward.
- Tuck. Try grabbing/hitting your shins with your hands.
- Land. Hardest part.
Landing in the pit: - Expect to land on your bum a few times.
- Or bounce off your feet onto your bum.
- Keep trying until you can stick it.
Landing on grass: - It can be a big shock to your legs.
- Roll to avoid that shock.

Thanks alot guys, ur real experts at this! I'm now able to do these on my bed: successfully take off, and spin in the air Only problem is (as Chris said was hardest), I keep either landing on my back or my ass. Any tips?

Look up our (Urban Current) frontflip tutorial on youtube. Though some disagree with our technique, there's definitely some tips in there that could help your progression out.

If your bed is too high up, you wont be able to rotate all the way before landing. The pit shouldn't be much more than a foot above the ground. If that is not the problem, then I think you just need to jump higher and/or rotate faster. Increasing your starting speed can help improve height and rotation. Also, try to make your body go from fully extended to fully tucked. When your legs extend for the jump, your arms should extend too. Then reach for your shins.

Yeah, unfortunately the 'pit' is 2 feet off the ground.

What part of the frontflip are you scared of? Secondly, There is pretty much no chance that you will land on your neck if you just keep rotating the worst you can really do is fall on your back... another thing are you wanting to learn it off stuff like small rocks tall rock etc...? or just a flat ground front?

Yeah, I'm trying to do it on flat ground (grass, concrete), like all my friends can I'm busy trying to do 'em on my bed, and even when I jump from a height, I keep landing on my back or my ass.

Some Helpful tips that may a come in handy for this... is when your doing it from a any height such as a rock.... or just doing it on flat grass you need to look forward... from what you are saying it sounds to me as if you are half assing it or not fully committed to what you are doing... go up on youtube, watch a few tutorials especially Adams seeing as that was the best tutorial tht help me out. After you have watched a few tutorial and you have the technique down to scratch then visually in your mind perform a perfect frontflip. After doing so the first time you just have to go with it... Fully commit yourself to the move. IF you feel like your not going to land just keep rotating eventually you will get it... hope this help

Listen, I need a lot of help here. I've been trying to learn a proper front flip on a mattress on the ground, and a chair next to it. The chair's about half a metre into the air. I've been at it for two months now. In one day I mastered the spin in the air, but I kept either landing on my back or my ass. It all went downhill from there... I can not, and I mean can not, find the reason why I keep landing on my back . I've wondered if it's the spin being too slow, and was wondering how to speed it up. I thought I might as well try getting help with the spin in the air, trying to make it faster. Because as I jump, about half way through the flip I start slowing down a ton, and land on my back. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Try tucking into a smaller ball once you jump. It will make you spin faster.

Kay?
Frontflips are not easy. Don't be impatient. Somebody isn't gonna say "if you think about giraffes.." and then like magic you land your frontflip. It takes time, effort, conditioning, and practice. Keep trying, keep trying, and keep trying. The more you do it, and the less time you spend waiting for people to tell you how to do it, the quicker you'll get it. Your body will tell you what you need to know. Jump up, tuck tight with your shoulders, and commit.
Good luck
