We'll use this method to measure "vertical" or jump height differential so as to keep consistency. This method is limiting because of knee travel - however most people won't have access to a vertical height tree.

Stand facing a wall. With your feet flat on the ground and body pressing up against the wall with one hand raised over your head reach as high as you can and measure the tip of your middle finger and make a mark.

Put some chalk or something on your finger which will stick to or mark the wall.

From standing, jump and touch the wall at the highest point you can. Repeat 3 X and take the best of 3. Measure the distance form one mark to another, this is your vertical leap.

I like to touch different kinds of surface textures.
Parkour lets me do that without feeling weird.

T rex November 29 2008 31"
(I didn't use a wall, but my standing vertical reach is 90' and I can hang from the rim of a basketball hoop)

T rex December 17 2008 28"
(I measured wrong last time - my standing vertical reach is 94', so idk what that would make the above measurement)

Let's see what happens after a year of training...

You shouldn't try to do multiple experiments to calculate linear vertical acceleration over large distances.
