I won't post my real name for security reasons. But "Yow" is how all my friends call me because of my last name and this is the alias I use in forums anyways
im pretty sure you dont have to worry about security on a site as obscure as this I don't mean the forum itself. The internet is full of bad people ya know

im pretty sure you dont have to worry about security on a site as obscure as this you google search various Parkour terms, likely a forum post about it from here will show up on the first page

Nah, I like the mysterious-ness from my name. Plus, it's my alias in every forum I'm in except one. So people tend to find me by my name, DP, and hometown. LOL

I always use my name for forums. But, in this case it is specially important. We do need to be real; it also feels much more personal and warm.

I'm new but I'll sound off. This is a great idea. I like net handles and nicknames (and am fond of mine but I like the suggested use of real names. Two reasons. First because of the desire in traceurs for a tight-knit community. This is where parkour came from and how it has grown, and using our real names can only help that. (It's really hard to go to a meet and say "Hey, coolio_78! How've you been?") Second, and leading out of that, because of the hope to further legitimize parkour. Nicknames are fine on the internet, but most of the time that's really where they should stay. If we are to be ambassadors of parkour outside of these forums, we have to present ourselves in a professional manner, and if I went around calling myself "spectre_general" to people asking me questions, no one's going to take me seriously. That said, I don't think it should be mandatory. Nicknames are fun, and there's lots of good reasons for anonymity online. But I'm opting in. Uh, that is all.

I don't feel comfortable using my real name on any Internet forum. Besides, I always introduce myself as Scared Doggy at jams. It's my nickname at school.

Why not make individual accounts and put your team name in your signatures?

So, how do you put your old username as a title? I don't see it as an option. "Danceswithwalls" was just a clever nick I thought up for this forum back in 2006. I'll change my name after that...

Just changed mine the more personal you can be, the more people can take you seriously, and come to you with questions, holding you more accountable for your comments. Great ideas guys, thank you for helping me realize

I also think its a great idea....the change to use my real name is possibly the best change I could have made.... cause I made some friends on Facebook from here because they knew my name. and also the whole "take you more serious" thing is a plus as well.

i do agree with the use of real names to be encouraged but i dont see the problem with colourful nicknames, would you tell jujimufu or dogen to use there real names? (if you know who they are, crappy example XD)
