If you don't mind, I'm going to stick with Skate Troe.
Skate is a character I made up a long time ago to prevent myself from accidentally giving out personal information. He's also the main character in the book I'm writing. Whenever I use a name on the internet, I use Skate Troe.
Now the issue Mark brought up here is a very valid one. But I'm not like that. Skate has a personality and a reputation identical to my own...or at least that's the way I see it. Since I use this name everywhere, if I act like a jerk here, or on YouTube, or anywhere else, other people find out, and that hurts Skate's (my) reputation.
Also, I'd rather use my last name on the internet.

I don't think I'll change my name, even though I don't really like the nickname Spinja, I am comfortable giving my first name and my last and middle initial; Spencer L.B. and I have already tried googling all variations of my name, and, so far, there is nothing revealing.

Most of you all don't need to know my 'real name'...because I don't use that name anyhow. I only use it to verify my identity with authorities or places like the DMV or whatever institution ran by the 'state' needs it.
My family, friends, and fellow Tracers know me by this name, because it is what I go by.
For those of you that met me, you know me. For those that don't maybe some day you will meet me.
IMHO a name is just a name, its the message and the person behind the name that is important. It doesn't matter if your birth name was 'Banana' as long as what you say isn't hurting anyone and that you are a good person.
Iek is my name (sounds like 'Ike')... So, with that said...remember the name...

I thought the PK community just had a thing about nicknames. That's the only reason I created one in the 1st place. Whenever I go to a jam I always tell people my 1st name then my nickname. But, no one outside the pk world calles me NoRush. I thought that traceurs just liked having a nickname, so this wouldnt affect our posts. Because we are who we are no matter what name we have. We can still get banned whether they know our real name or not. What difference did it actually make? After saying all that, I'm totally gonna go against it and change my forum name

I personally am using the name that i am comfortable with people calling me. My "real" name should be of no importance, it should be what you call me. So as long as your handle is what you want to be called in real life i don't see that being a problem. I mean this is the name that i identify with myself and the name i would like people to use when i am training with them. Also in an aside i don't use my first name in tae kwan do either, so you have your choice, Tai or Mr. Buys.

Its not that i dislike my real name ( Tyler ) its just that everyone calls me Ty anyways and i am studying Japanese and in katakana it would be Tai ( the Ta and the I symbols) and it looks a lot better as a stand alone name then Ty. and i don't like the idea of Tie. Glad you think it sounds cool

My name is Daniel C. Handley. Everyone I know simply know me as Dan. However, I am designing a couple pieces of software for Linux (whether either will see the light of day is still up in the air). There is already someone with a computer sciences paper circulating the Internet named Dan Handley. So I could call myself Daniel Handley. Unfortunately, I'm getting more and more involved in filmmaking and need to distinguish myself from Hollywood producer Daniel Hanley. So I go by Daniel C. Handley. There's just one problem. It's just too damn formal! I can be formal easily when necessary. But most of the time, it's just not me. So I will continue to sign my name at the end of my posts, but my official greeting name will continue to be CommandoChicken. That way people will know that I am, first and foremost, a total and complete goofball. After all, that is who I am. -- Daniel C. "The DanMan" Handley aka: the infamous CommandoChicken!
