Parkour and Freerunning / In the Media / Cool comedy flyer

Hey guys. I haven't been on in while. Just thought I share this with you guys. I'm hosting a comedy show at the Improv tomorrow night and my friend who is promoting the show made this flyer. We all know this image. Hope he doesn't sued for using it. Anyway, now I need to find a way to work parkour into a joke. Any suggestions?

Ozzi, you're tutorials were the ones that really helped me along. When I train new people, I pretty much recite and demonstrate what you do in your videos. I have yet to see anyone else break the movements down to their barest essentials as you have. You shouldn't be surprised man. I am the one who needs to thank you.
Thanks, Ozzi.

I got my Ariakes back in April and they are now dead. Aosta rubber has worn through all the way to the cushiony stuff on both shoes and I am sitting here cradling them with tears in my eyes. Just wanted to update you guys on their durability.

I think your body and your instincts will tell you everything you need to know about how to train. I have also had run-ins with "daredevils" who will attempt a rail precision or a big drop without first contemplating the amount of damage they are doing to their bodies. Not that I'm calling your friend a daredevil, but I understand what you mean when you see someone else "Just do it."
Just look back a month ago and what you were able to do (or not do) and look at yourself now. If you see improvement in anything at all (balance, speed, technique, mindset) then you've progressed all you need. Progress is forever, man. When something takes forever, speed doesn't really get you there any faster.

It was almost a great movie except for the last fight scene. I hate it when they do stuff where everything lines up perfectly and gets pulled off at the last minute by some super perfect, "chance" maneuver that can only happen at that one moment in time. It's such a cop-out compared to actually creating a convincing fight scene. The new Indiana Jones was full of moments like that which really turned me off. Plus, the movie just plain sucked. The ending clip was awesome. Almost made me forget how bad the last fight was, so there's some promise for this franchise.
And we still have Batman, and maybe Hulk, to look forward to.

Fitness and Training / General Fitness / Re: Biceps/chinups/pushups

Chinups (overhand) engage the biceps in a leverage-disadvantaged position making the exercise harder on the biceps. They also engage the brachiallis (which tends to be an generally undertrained muscle) more than pullups (underhand). What you feel after chinups is probably your brachiallis (JMO).
+1 to you, BobT, for such an accurate explanation. Seriously. I went to a body-building forum for this very same discussion, and no one seemed to know what they were talking about. There were opinions being thrown around everywhere, but no one laid down the facts quite like you did. THanks! Well, that's true, but not exactly accurate depiction: In pronation and supination, the radius is rotated around the ulna which means the ulna does not move through space. This is important because the brachialis origin is on the humerus and inserts to the ulna. Therefore, the brachialis is not engaged more UNLESS it takes up some of the slack for the disadvantaged biceps which it does seem to do. So it's not because it engages it more; it's because it's takes up the slack for the disadvantaged biceps. Also, biceps is disadvantaged in pronated position because the radial tuberosity (biceps insertion) is rotated away from the humerus. This makes the muscle longer and therefore weaker. And pronated = pullups = hands away, chinups = supinated = hands facing. It's better to use pronated and supinated because people often get confused with pullups and chins. To be honest, it really doesn't matter that much once you get strong enough at one them (10-15+ reps) because your body will become proficient at both. edit: added why the ulna not moving through space is important. So, Steve. Just to be clear, you're saying there's really no difference in the effects of pronated or supinated pull ups? I'm asking because a physical abnormality in my left arm prevents my radius from fully rotating around the ulna, therefore limiting my range of motion in that arm. Because of this, I cannot sustain a supinated pull up because is just plain hurts to do so. Same goes for supinated bicep curls. Are there any other bicep exercises I could partake in?

Omg. This game is gorgeous and so amazing. I can't wait until I unlock Algonquin (Manhattan) so I can see how authentic they got it. Even riding the subway is fun.
I'm spidernon on Xbox Live if you wanna do a little "Liberty" running in the game.
