Try holding a 45lbs weight in front of you at arms length. Tongue

I definitely wouldn't recommend this.  This would put you way over the healthy limit for stress on a disc and could potentially lead to disc herniations in the future which are no bueno.  When you hold out a weight at arms length it is something like 20 times its original weight on your spine.

Ryan: marvelous video, scenery and parkour, really impressive!

A couple years back. the university was doing a force-plate study on parkour jump landings.  Was that ever released, and is there a link to it?

Haha that was Ryan's study.  I don't believe he finished it.

you can get much of the same workout from pushing/pulling a car if you have someone to sit in it while your doing it.

Knowing how to roll has saved my ass way more then any specific parkour training.  I took a nasty spill on my bike the other day and I'm convinced the only reason I got away unharmed is because I rolled

Though for endurance gains, I would stick to higher reps of non-weighted pull ups.

Depends on how much endurance you want.  I would still say to do weighted pretty much no matter what.

Just wanna clear up that my post was in fact the opposite of bitching out those guys.  I personally know and would consider myself pretty good friends with Steve and Chris.  Charles and Tom I don't know but I respect their knowledge on the subject.  Anyway just wanted to clear that up because my post was one of praise and I know thats how Chris took it.

What about MN? Plenty of weighted skill training there. As long as you progress safely, the extra weight should be fine in my opinion.

Is it infallible?  There's not any research backing any of it up, anecdotal or otherwise.  Just because it's getting popular doesn't mean its the best.

If he wants to work on size and looks, he should go to a BB forum. Plain and simple.

Should we turn away trickers too since this is a parkour and free running forum?  Your answer kind of disgusts me in a way.  He obviously came here because he feels comfortable and welcomed here and figured (correctly) that since people like Steve, Chris, Tom, Charles etc... are all intelligent, and kind people they would give him some helpful advice.

I don't feel that Spencer was turning him away.

I didn't know there was a different way to interpret "If he wants to work on size and looks, he should go to a BB forum.  Plain and simple.  I guess I just don't know what that actually means.  Could you enlighten me?

Better looking abs come from a very good diet, little stress and using HIIT training. The stress is a minor part but when males are stressed we can put weight on the stomach. Also it would help us too to see how much weight you are using for each routine. Curls really dont relate to parkour/freerunning, they are only to make your arms bigger and look better. The other workouts you have there will help out alot with arm strength, but if you want your arms to look better then you can work on curls. Lastly do you have any goals for endurance, or speed? If so then you need to put some cardio in there as well. Long distance and/or sprints will help with endurance and help burn fat at the same time. I would say that the HIIT training would be the best cardio you can do.

Did you guys read his post?  Let's see what did he say.  Oh yeah he said that he needs to look better for films so I really have absolutely no idea why you would post that curls really don't related to parkour/freerunning and wait for it to make your arms bigger and look better.  Holy shit thats his goal!  The thing that confuses me si you saying right after that that if you want your arms to look better then you can work on curls.  I'm pretty sure he wasn't asking for advice on cardio either.  If you look at his stats he is about 6 foot and 165.  This is pretty close to how much I weigh and I know it varies for everybody but I doubt it would be realistic for him to lose more then 10 pounds of fat.  Whoever posted after you: WHY ARE YOU REPEATING THAT BICEP CURLS ARE USELESS.  Not only was it already said, but they are not useless for his goals.  i'm getting sick of all the parroted information I am seeing posted in this forum.  It seems like everybody is taking some good general advice for parkour and just broadly assuming that it will work for everything.

A few of the stuntmen who worked on Prince of Persia with david belle are working on this movie. That would be my best bet.

I can't tell from your post whether you're guessing or it actually is from the prince of persia group.

As my goals are different now (strength prioritized over hypertrophy) I see no need to eat so damn much.

Well, eating a bunch helps a ton with recovery.  Eating to maintain makes it a bit harder to optimize recovery, in my experience, fwiw.

Since I've been back in the gym again, I've been eating more, and a bit healthier.  Need more veggies, though.  I just don't see myself wanting to eat two super burritos or six huge meals a day or anything.  I don't really want to gain weight, but I don't need to lose it either.

On topic:  I like to eat something light before workouts.  Lately, homemade smoothies (OJ, banana, strawberries, blue- or rasp- berries, yogurt and sometimes milk and protein powder).  This is pure personal preference and I have no idea if that's a good or bad thing to do.

Workouts tend to be better if you don't.

If you have blood flowing to your digestive system (parasympathetic), then your sympathetic nervous system isn't going to work as well during training.

Thanks Steve.  I find I get lightheaded if it's been too long since I've eaten, especially.  So I'll try to time a meal or smoothie a few hours before a workout.  What's the optimal time?  2-3, 3-4 hours?

Just be glad you don't have to eat that much just to maintain  Sad.  On another note my friend won the Paris Robeaux this year!

the pro race? Your friend is a crack head.

or are you talking about big bird?
